JPMorgan Chase has named longtime Goldman Sachs executive Jerry Lee as global chair of investment banking, according to a memo seen Friday by Banking Dive.
Lee was most recently global head of biopharma banking and global head of healthcare investment banking services at Goldman, topping off his 19-year tenure, which he began as a summer associate in 2006.
Lee has served as an adviser on more than $300 billion in deals, according to the memo, written by Filippo Gori and John Simmons, co-heads of global banking at JPMorgan.
“More importantly, his work has been instrumental in identifying, funding and nurturing innovations in healthcare,” Gori and Simmons wrote.
At JPMorgan, he will “be part of a talented senior team that provides strategic advice to our most important clients worldwide,” they continued. “He will be a fantastic addition to our top-ranked investment banking franchise, and his extensive relationships will complement our healthcare franchise, which finished #1 in 2024.”
Lee fills a void left by Jennifer Nason, who retired in February after 13 years as global investment banking chair. Nason, whose JPMorgan tenure spanned nearly 40 years, is now a member of Accenture’s board of directors.
JPMorgan is fleshing out its global banking team with strategic hires in key markets, according to a spokesperson. More than 300 bankers have been hired since early last year, with nearly a third of those roles at the managing director level.
