Georgetown, Texas [March 18, 2026] — United Heritage Credit Union (UHCU) is proud to announce the debut of it’s first-ever micro-branch, only accessible via the Red Poppy Garden Railroad, located behind Mulligan’s Restaurant in Sun City Georgetown. The smallest branch in Texas brings local financial services into the world of miniature railroading and adds a new interactive feature for visitors of all ages.
Guests visiting the Red Poppy Garden Railroad can now experience the UHCU micro branch as part of the display and press a button to activate built-in sound effects and motion, creating a fun and engaging hands-on moment within the exhibit. The micro branch was designed and built through a collaborative effort among the Radio Control Modelers club. Named in honor of Georgetown’s signature Red Poppy Festival, the Red Poppy Railroad reflects the strong connection between Sun City and the greater Georgetown community.
The Red Poppy Garden Railroad is a large-scale, highly detailed model railroad featuring replicas of iconic Georgetown landmarks and interactive scenes that bring the display to life. Visitors can spot scale versions of the Williamson County Courthouse and buildings surrounding the Georgetown Square, along with two functioning engine sheds and a working drive-in theater. Animated features throughout the layout include a quarry, golf hole, RV park, lumber mill, baseball stadium, and an Elvis concert.
The railroad continues to evolve with new additions and seasonal elements added throughout the year to celebrate holidays and special events. Together, the craftsmanship, storytelling, and ongoing community involvement make the Red Poppy Garden Railroad a distinctive attraction and a showcase of collaborative volunteer talent.
United Heritage Credit Union is honored to be represented in this one-of-a-kind community attraction and to support creative projects that bring people together through craftsmanship, history, and interactive fun.
