FirstBank veteran Christian Winward was named PNC’s next chief information security officer Monday, roughly seven months after the Pittsburgh-based lender closed on its $4.1 billion acquisition of Colorado’s FirstBank.
Winward’s FirstBank career spanned 35 years, according to his LinkedIn page and a press release, starting as a teller in 1991 and climbing the ranks, eventually to multiple C-suite roles. He most recently was FirstBank’s chief information officer.
Winward led the modernization of FirstBank’s technology capabilities as CIO and assisted in the FirstBank-PNC integration.
“His leadership of major technology functions, support of the successful integration of FirstBank into PNC and strong understanding of our business position him well to build on the excellent foundation already in place and help advance the security and resilience of our enterprise,” said Debbie Guild, head of technology at PNC, in a prepared statement.
Winward will lead PNC’s enterprise information security arm, which oversees cyber strategy, attack surface monitoring, security operations, incident response, data protection, governance, risk assessments, and third-party and subsidiary security.
Truist names new wealth head
Truist has hired Bank of America veteran Shimna Sameer to lead its wealth management division, effective in October.
Sameer, who will report to Chief Wholesale Banking Officer Kristin Lesher, will oversee the Charlotte, North Carolina-based lender’s wealth management division, which grew second-quarter income about 8% year-over-year, according to an earnings release.
Sameer spent more than 20 years at Bank of America and most recently served as head of products, solutions and platforms at its private bank. There, she managed the private bank’s digital platforms, business and talent strategies and client experience.
“Shim has spent her career serving clients, leading organizations to achieve outsized results and designing and implementing strategies that drive performance,” Lesher said in a prepared statement. “She has a proven ability to partner across the enterprise, support advisor growth and development and leverage technology to scale businesses.”
Sameer joins Truist Wealth at “an important moment in our business,” Lesher said.
The wealth division has been undergoing a "digital transformation journey," the company said in December, marked by investments in its digital experience.
